Amigos Kemang an institution in Jakarta, Amigos opened its doors in 1979. Originally known as “The Green Pub,” Amigos changed its name in the early 1980’s when an Indonesian regulation prohibited the use of foreign words in company names. While Amigos means “Friends” in Spanish, it is also an acronym for “Ajang Makan, Minum, Gosip,” which translated to English means “A Place to Eat, Drink and Gossip,” and the ambiance is true to both definitions.
With its kitsch Mexican décor, Amigos’s atmosphere is fun, casual, and makes you feel as if you’ve transported away from Jakarta. Anyone who has ever lived in Texas or California, where the Mexican influence has a large presence, may feel an overwhelming sense of nostalgia upon stepping in.
Both Amigos locations feature live bands and Latin Nights for salsa addicts (Tuesday at Bellagio Mall and Friday at Kemang) when Amigos guest can dance the night away.
